| Addie Lorraine Hartt was born July 21, 1902, in Sheridan, MT, and
moved with the family to Alberta, then the N.W.T. She
started school at Mossleigh where here father Newton
Henry had land, then later attended school at Lone
Butte and Hanna. Lorraine had a lovely singing voice
and sang at many local weddings, including her cousin
Beatrice Rose and Owen Still’s wedding in 1946.
Addie married Herbert Spencer Burns 1922. He was
born January 1896 in Greenbank, ON. Spencer’s
father, James, came west in 1901 with his eight sons,
because they couldn’t farm in the Ontario because they
didn’t have enough land. Lorraine and Spencer lived
on the farm near Watts, AB, until 1945. They went to
Nightingale in 1952 as an agent of the Alberta Pacific
Grain Company, staying a year and a half, then moved
to Vulcan where Spencer was a Field Inspector. He
was a grand man and was always interested in church
work.
