Anderson, master, Richard Carver of Scratby, in county of Norfolk, England, husband, age 60 years, and Grace, his wife, age 40 years, and their two children, twins, Elizabeth and Susanna Carver, age 18 years, and three servants.
ISAAC HART, age 22 years Thomas Flege, age 21 years Marabel Underwood, age 20 years. Richard Carver, on arriving in America, settled in Watertown, Mass. ISAAC HART is supposed to have been born in Scratby, England, about 1614; came to Watertown, Mass., 1636, age 22 years, and married, about 1650, ELIZABETH HUTCHINS, daughter of Mrs. Anne Hutchins, who later married Adam Hawks of Lynn, Mass. Richard Carver died in 1642-'43. ISAAC HART bought one acre of land in Watertown, about 1642, on which he built a cottage, and he sold this land and buildings Feb. 3, 1656, and Oct. 4, 1656, he bought a farm of 270 acres of meadow land of Thomas Hutchinson in Reading, for whichhe paid 120 pounds. Recorded at Salem,Mass., book 14, page 263. This land was in what is now North Lynnfield. Dec. 31, 1673, Mr. Hart bought 500 acres of land in what is now Lynnfield, near North Reading, on which he resided until his death, Feb. 10, 1699. Ebenezer Parsons of Lynnfield Centre, Mass., a descendant, has the original deed of ISAAC HART'S farm, kept in a glass case. ISAAC HART was a soldier in Capt. Gardner's company, King Phillip's war, Feb. 29, to Nov., 1675-'76. The following is a partial sketch of his WILL, which was probated Feb. 19, 1699-1700:

An Indian girl named Tituba and five others were hanged. ELIZABETH HART was arraigned and sent to Boston, May 18, 1692, where she was imprisoned until December, nearly seven months. She was an old lady, the wife of ISAAC HART. THOMAS HART, a son, of Elizabeth Hart, in a petition to the court Oct. 19, says she has been in prison ever since May for imputed witchcraft, and prays to be released. The petition shows that Elizabeth Hart, mother of the petitioner, was taken into custody the latter part of May last, and ever since confined in a Boston prison for witchcraft." "The deposition of Mary Wolcott, who testified and saith that on the 13th of May, 1692, I saw the apparition of Goody Hart, who hurt me much by pinching and choking of me and urged me grievously to set my hand to her book, and several other times she has tormented me, ready to tear body in pieces." The old lady after passing through the torments of those Satanic fiends lived until Nov. 28, 1700, and ISAAC HART died Feb. 10, 1699. No head stones mark their graves.
Captain Samuel Hart (Isaac) born in Lynnfield, Mass., Feb. 9, 1656, son of Isaac and Elizabeth (Hutchins) Hart; married Sarah Endicott, a reputed niece of Governor John Endicott. Mr. Hart resided in what is now Lynnfield, Mass. and was a sea captain from the age of 16 to 60 years. After 1716 he left the sea and remained at home on his farm in Lynnfield. On one of his voyages, he received from the Grand Turk a silver cup and other trinkets. The following traditional story is told by his descendants, as he handed down (from Ebenezer Parsons of Lynnfield Center): "He said as he was lying awake one night in his cabin a woman entered, having in one hand a lighted candle and in the other an hour-glass. He looked at the hour-glass and saw that the sands were almost run, and thought it meant he should die with the running of the last sands. But as the last sands were run, the woman turned the hour-glass and vanished. he then concluded his life was half spent and noted to himself at the time, but would never tell his family when this occurred. At the age of 60 years he ceased going to sea; on a certain night before retiring his family noticed that he remained longer than was usual at his devotions, and in the morning he was found dead in bed."
Captain Samuel Hart died Dec. 30, 1730. No record of his wife's death.
